Arizona Milk Producers Milk Mustache Scholarship Winners Announced

The ‘stache was worth the cash! More than 550 students across Arizona showed off their Milk Mustache and the top three finalists received $30,000 toward their continuing education in Arizona.

The scholarship winners, Jake Castaldo, of Peoria, Jack Baker, of Gilbert, and Victoria Brandis, of Phoenix, were announced at the FIESTA BOWL game on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016.

Castaldo was the grand prize winner, receiving a $12,000 scholarship. Baker won a $10,000 scholarship and Brandis earned an $8,000 scholarship.

Dairy plays such an important role in fueling active minds and bodies, and Arizona dairy farmers are proud to sponsor the Milk Mustache Scholarship Contest for more than 25 years.

Students began entering Aug. 15, 2016, on arizonamilk.org/scholarship or by uploading their photo to Instagram and tagging @azmilkproducers and using the hashtag #ampscholarshipcontest and picked their prize using #fuel, #fun or #food.

From Sept. 5 through Nov. 21, one weekly finalist was selected based on their entry and received a $100 gift card for food, fun or fuel, plus a pair of tickets to the FIESTA BOWL game. The Top 3 finalists were selected based on their milk mustache photo and scholarship applications.

Best milk mustache wins ASU football tickets!

You’ve got 48 hours to get your best milk mustache photo in (also featuring a dairy product) for your chance at tickets to Saturday’s Arizona State University home football game vs. Northern Arizona University on Sept. 3.

Not only will you be cheering on ASU at this week’s home game, but you’ll also be qualified for a chance to win an Arizona college scholarship! Four winners will be announced Thursday, each with two tickets!

Safford’s Rios, Thatcher’s Bryce named All-Americans

Two area athletes were named All-Americans — Safford High School’s Chanse Rios and Thatcher High School’s Kason Bryce.

Dairy Council of Arizona, Arizona Coaches Association and the American Leadership Academy presented the 29th annual Winter and Spring High School All-American Awards on May 21.

Twenty-two senior student-athletes from around the state were honored. The awards were based on the student athletes’ academics and standard of play. The sports represented were girls basketball, boys basketball, boys baseball, girls softball and wrestling.

Pinal 40 awards 22 students with $46,500 in scholarships

Twenty-two bright Pinal County students, furthering their education in an Agriculture field, are this year’s Pinal 40 scholarship recipients.

The scholarships, totaling $46,500 from Pinal 40, were handed Thursday, June 2nd.

Pinal 40 exists as a fraternity of community members who organized with the primary objective of promoting Pinal County, its youth as well as farming and agriculture related businesses. Philanthropically, Pinal 40 and its membership focus on providing support and funding for youth and education through agribusiness related scholarships and support of local charities.
