100’ Milk Life® – Flag 5 Rings Logo Appears on Field at Mesa Dairy Farm

Arizona Milk Producers paint field to celebrate milk’s role in helping fuel Team USA on the Road to Rio

A 100’ larger-than-life logo appeared on a field at a Mesa Dairy Farm. And it’s all to celebrate Milk Life and Team USA! That’s right – nearly 100 dairy farms across Arizona are joining together to proudly announce their excitement about Milk Life®’s sponsorship of the 2016 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team by visually bringing to life the spirit and support Arizona has for Team USA and milk’s role in powering athlete’s trainings.

The logo’d field kicks off a month-long June Dairy Month celebration. The 100’ Milk Life® logo – created using eco-friendly paint and clearly visible when flying overhead – is located at Jim Boyle Jr.’s farm in Mesa, Ariz., home to 2,500 dairy cows.

Arizonans can join in on the celebration, including an online enter-to-win contest for the chance to win free Shamrock Farms milk and co-branded Milk/Team USA swag and more!

Milk has always been a nutrient powerhouse with its high-quality protein and other essential nutrients powering America’s athletes – and now it’s being celebrated for powering Team USA! Milk Life has signed on to support the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams through the Rio 2016, PyeongChang 2018 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The initiative will educate consumers about the powerful nutritional benefits of milk, and provide Team USA athletes with the support of hundreds of dairy industry groups right in their own communities.

KNIX names Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Mrs. Chelise Nahle on being named Teacher of the Year!

She accepted the award Thursday, May 12 at a ceremony at Chase Field.

Mrs. Nahle is a Special Education teacher for the kids ages 3 to 6 years old, and was nominated by one of her fellow Mesa School District Special Education preschool teachers who she has worked with for nearly a decade.

“Her classroom was so well behaved and you could really tell she specializes in helping sensory issues. She has the patience of a saint. Most of her autistic student’s parents noticed a huge change in their child’s behavior and abilities after they are in her classroom.”

“Chelise has taken many hours of additional training in her own time to become a behavior specialist. Any time I have behavior and/or sensory issues with any of my students in my special education classroom, myself and many other teachers go to her for advice and help. She is always willing to help us with the student by observing and suggesting different strategies to try. Her strategies and suggestions always help me with the student I am struggling with.”

In addition, Mrs. Nahle offers workshops after school for the parents of her students, and has Book and Breakfast activities each year before school for students and their families.

“Chelise is an excellent, outstanding teacher who is making a very positive difference in her students’ lives. I feel she is truly deserving of this award. She provides a positive, loving, supportive classroom environment where every child is make to feel successful.”

Mrs. Nahle was selected among 34 teachers who received Teacher of the Week honor during the 2015-2016 school year.

Teacher represents school mascot ‘Superhero’

Congratulations to Mr. Frank Guerra, a 5th grade teacher at Kyrene De Los Ninos Elementary School and the recipient of the KNIX Teacher of the Week.

“He represents the school’s mascot, the ‘Superhero’ with such a modest yet shining example,” wrote the mother who nominated him.

“He helps coach intramural sports and teaches kids about team work while having fun. He uses his camera throughout the school year and takes pictures, which kids just love. He captures so many joyful moments during school-wide events for the school year book. He made a photo montage for his students at the end of the 1 semester and will give them another at the end of the 2nd. They’ll be able to see what they looked like and accomplished by the end of the school year; what a treat! This is a very thoughtful gift and many will keep these memories forever.”

“Without being required to, he stays after school to help with homework and never turns a student away who needs help. My son’s confidence, personally and academically, has increased significantly this school year. My son has really shined in all subjects, especially Math. So much is credited to Mr. Guerra because he believes and shows his students that each one can succeed. He encourages them to use their mind and imagination and will guide them through their problem-solving. With his help, they usually end up remembering how to figure it out on their own. He makes school fun and continues to have great success among his classroom. My son loves to go to school every day.”
