Congratulations to Mr. Frank Guerra, a 5th grade teacher at Kyrene De Los Ninos Elementary School and the recipient of the KNIX Teacher of the Week.

“He represents the school’s mascot, the ‘Superhero’ with such a modest yet shining example,” wrote the mother who nominated him.

“He helps coach intramural sports and teaches kids about team work while having fun. He uses his camera throughout the school year and takes pictures, which kids just love. He captures so many joyful moments during school-wide events for the school year book. He made a photo montage for his students at the end of the 1 semester and will give them another at the end of the 2nd. They’ll be able to see what they looked like and accomplished by the end of the school year; what a treat! This is a very thoughtful gift and many will keep these memories forever.”

“Without being required to, he stays after school to help with homework and never turns a student away who needs help. My son’s confidence, personally and academically, has increased significantly this school year. My son has really shined in all subjects, especially Math. So much is credited to Mr. Guerra because he believes and shows his students that each one can succeed. He encourages them to use their mind and imagination and will guide them through their problem-solving. With his help, they usually end up remembering how to figure it out on their own. He makes school fun and continues to have great success among his classroom. My son loves to go to school every day.”

The weekly winners are entered for a chance to become the Teacher of Year.
