June 1 was not only World Milk Day but also the start of June Dairy Month. Farms all around the country celebrated by inviting local youth groups to have a nutritious dairy-rich breakfast and leading a farm tour.

In Arizona, about 50 children from the Buckeye Summer Youth Program were treated to a visit to Kerr Dairy Farm in Buckeye. They greeted adult and baby cows and learned more about how milk gets from the cows to their refrigerator.

Sine Kerr reads to children from the Buckeye Summer Youth Program during a farm tour to celebrate the start of June Dairy Month.

The kids then enjoyed a breakfast of yogurt, string cheese, milk and muffins. They also received a goody bag and a copy of Daisy’s Dairy Dreams, a new illustrated storybook about a cow’s life on the farm produced by the Arizona Milk Producers.

Fox 10 News was on hand to talk to the kids about their experience and inform viewers what Kerr Dairy and June Dairy Month are all about. The smiles on the kids’ faces throughout their visit and their demand for second and third breakfast helpings showed how much they enjoyed kicking off June Dairy Month in style.
