Congratulations to Mrs. Chelise Nahle on being named Teacher of the Year!

She accepted the award Thursday, May 12 at a ceremony at Chase Field.

Mrs. Nahle is a Special Education teacher for the kids ages 3 to 6 years old, and was nominated by one of her fellow Mesa School District Special Education preschool teachers who she has worked with for nearly a decade.

“Her classroom was so well behaved and you could really tell she specializes in helping sensory issues. She has the patience of a saint. Most of her autistic student’s parents noticed a huge change in their child’s behavior and abilities after they are in her classroom.”

“Chelise has taken many hours of additional training in her own time to become a behavior specialist. Any time I have behavior and/or sensory issues with any of my students in my special education classroom, myself and many other teachers go to her for advice and help. She is always willing to help us with the student by observing and suggesting different strategies to try. Her strategies and suggestions always help me with the student I am struggling with.”

In addition, Mrs. Nahle offers workshops after school for the parents of her students, and has Book and Breakfast activities each year before school for students and their families.

“Chelise is an excellent, outstanding teacher who is making a very positive difference in her students’ lives. I feel she is truly deserving of this award. She provides a positive, loving, supportive classroom environment where every child is make to feel successful.”

Mrs. Nahle was selected among 34 teachers who received Teacher of the Week honor during the 2015-2016 school year.

The KNIX 102.5 Teacher of the Week contest is sponsored by Larry H. Miller Chrysler Jeep Avondale and Dairy Council of Arizona.
